Welcome to Ride of a Lifetime's blog. We set sail aboard Ride of a Lifetime, a 36 foot sailing yacht, from Neyland, a marina lying just east of Milford Haven, south west Wales, in late October 2003. We crossed the Bay of Biscay and were then storm bound in Baiona, Northern Spain, for a few days. We continued south stopping in Cascais for diesel and then on to Cabo de Sao Vicente where we turned left heading for Gibraltar. Unfortunately the winds also turned and we found ourselves slamming into both wind and sea. We therefore decided to make for Vilamoura, Portugal, for a brief respite. Once the winds abated we set off again and by the time we reached the straits of Gibraltar there was no wind and passed through in flat calm conditions and were even sunbathing on deck it was so hot!
Once in the Med we spent three weeks in Duquesa marina, just south of Marbella. We hired a car and explored Andalucia. We toured almost all the Pueblos Blancos, visited the Alhambra in Granada and continued on to Cordoba where we spent a couple of nights. We eventually set sail again and continued up the coast with a couple of stops before reaching Barcelona in mid December where we spent Christmas and New Year.
We actually started writing this blog in 2013 so the next ten yearly posts are a précis of our progress and adventures.
